Adtron ATCA iSCSI HA Storage Blade Delivers Base and Fabric GigE Interfaces
Next Gen Model EA8R Slated for July 2005 Delivery
CHICAGO, IL (Supercomm 2005) - June 7, 2005 - Adtron, an industry leader in delivering smart data storage solutions to the industrial marketplace, today announced availability of its Bladepak™ EA8R iSCSI AdvancedTCA™ storage blade with dual GigE interfaces for both base and fabric. The dual star configuration supports high availability applications and multiple initiator access. Adtron ActiveRAID™ technology provides host-independent disk hot swapping. Initial availability of the EA8R with release 2 enhancements is in July 2005.
Dual GigE support on the fabric interface provides redundant network support and the option of separating the management and control functions on the base interface from data and payload functions on the fabric interface. Coupled with SCSI over Internet Protocol (iSCSI), the EA8R delivers multiple initiator access with the advantages of SCSI command and control ubiquitously deployed in a variety of operating environments such as carrier-grade Linux, and Microsoft Windows® operating systems. High availability features include disk and board hot swap, synchronization between active and standby EA8Rs, and health usage and maintenance services.
"Ease of integration into any AdvancedTCA-based application is the hallmark of the EA8R storage blade," stated Jim Haager, Adtron Director of Engineering. "Investment in an iSCSI storage solution with enterprise-class disk drives secures the effective utilization of common chassis components, simplified connectivity, improved economics, and reduced certification efforts."
In addition to ActiveRAID™ technology, board-level IPMI functionality on the EA8R supports health reporting down to the individual disk drive level. Adtron's EA8R is particularly well-suited to high availability applications incorporating individually hot-swappable enterprise-class disk drives to reduce overall MTTR.
The EA8R will be showcased at Supercomm 2005 from June 7 - 9 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. As a general member of the Intel® Communications Alliance, the Adtron EA8R will be on display in the Intel Corporation booth (#38037) as a component of their modular computing platform. Adtron Corporation will display the EA8R in the PICMG Technology Showcase (#43085).
Shipments begin in late July 2005 with quantity units available in the fourth quarter of 2005. EA8R list pricing in a RAID5 configuration starts at $5,500 without media. Several capacities and RAID0 configurations are also available. For more information, contact Adtron Sales at 602-735-0300 or by e-mail at sales@adtron.com.
